Olivia & Jay's Intimate Elopement at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, Elkhart, Indiana
Some love stories are born from a spark, an unexpected connection that grows into something deeper, truer and unshakable. That’s exactly the case with Olivia and Jay, a couple whose love blossomed from the moment they met, and who, in their own words, have been “inseparable ever since.” Their story is one of spontaneity, passion, and devotion - both to each other and to their faith in Jehovah.
Their elopement day was no different - intimate, extremely personal and full of joy. A few weeks prior to their big day, we met at Common Spirits, a cozy + festive cocktail bar in downtown Goshen, Indiana. It's actually right next to my photography studio! What was meant to be a brief meeting to finalize details for their shoot quickly turned into a couple hours of conversation, laughter and bonding over something non of us could have predicted: pickle-flavored beer! It was clear from the start that Olivia and Jay are the kind of couple who find joy in the small things and cherish every moment together - especially if those moments are shared over breakfast on their weekly adventures to try new cafes around the midwest.
On the day of their elopement, Olivia and Jay first exchanged vows in front of a judge for a quiet ceremony. From there, we all headed to the beautiful Wellfield Botanic Gardens in Elkhart to kick off their elopement photoshoot. The lush greenery of the gardens served as the perfect backdrop for a couple that describes themselves as being drawn to earthy tones and the natural beauty of the world. The way the willows and greenery framed them felt like a perfect representation of their deeply rooted, organic connection.
Olivia and Jay’s love for art, jazz and Caribbean cuisine is just as bold and vibrant as the passion they share for each other and the world around them. Their love has grown not only through their shared experiences but also through the challenges they’ve faced together and will continue to do so as a team. They credit their strength as a couple to the obstacles they’ve overcome, their unwavering bond and shared faith.
After our time at Wellfield, we decided to venture into downtown Elkhart for some more urban shots to capture a different side of their love story. Oh yeah, and we grabbed some of their favorite ice cream from Vanilla Bean Creamery right on the corner of Main & Division. Whether nestled amongst the serene nature of the gardens or the bustling streets of the city, Olivia and Jay’s connection remained as radiant and undeniable as ever. The energy between them was electric, their laughter contagious and their affection so damn genuine.
When asked what they hope to see when they look back at their photos, Olivia and Jay said, “We want to look back and have the realization that we were madly in love then and now.” It’s safe to say that these images truly encapsulate that. Every shot tells the story of two people who are not only in love but completely at peace with each other.
